Does Contractubex® Intensive Patch make the scar disappear completely?

No, a scar is permanent and will never disappear completely. However, Contractubex® Intensive Patch significantly reduces the visibility of scars. It is important to continue treatment for longer periods of time (3-6 months).

When will I see the first signs of success with Contractubex® Intensive Patch?

Scar treatment needs patience, as the injured skin takes time to heal. The first signs of treatment success with Contractubex® Intensive Patch are usually experienced as reduced redness, relief of tension and less itching. Temporary itching is, however, often a sign that a scar is healing well, and should not cause immediate concern.

When can I start using the Intensive Patch?

Treatment can begin immediately following removal of the stitches or once the scab has fallen off. If using the Intensive Patch causes your skin to redden slightly, it is advisable to consult your doctor and discuss whether you should suspend treatment for a while.

How long should I use the Intensive Patch for?

For a period of at least 3 months and between 6 and a maximum of 12 hours each night. Please use a new Intensive Patch each day. Each Intensive Patch releases its ingredients over about 6 hours following application.

My scar is smaller than the Intensive Patch!

If you have a smaller scar, you can cut the intensive patch to the appropriate size. Please make sure that you do not remove the transparent film prior to cutting. The cut parts of the Intensive Patch should be used within a few days.

My scar is larger than the Intensive Patch!

In the case of larger scars, you can apply several Intensive Patches directly next to each other. It is recommended that the medicinal product Contractubex® Gel be used for the treatment of wider or longer scars, however. It is available without prescription from your pharmacy.

Does Contractubex® Intensive Patch work on older scars?

Yes, even scars that are over a year old can be treated with Contractubex® Intensive Patch. Some older scars dry out and become hard, in which case you should additionally use Contractubex® Gel and massage the scar daily for at least 6 months. Contractubex® Intensive Patch can also reduce a scar’s height and redness, and smooth the tissue so that your scar becomes less conspicuous. Combining Contractubex® Intensive Patch with ultrasound therapy improves effectiveness.

Can children be treated with Contractubex® Intensive Patch?

Yes, of course. Even toddlers or babies can be treated. Contractubex® Intensive Patch is very safe.
