Dogs, cats, mice: They aren’t just cuddly

Most households have a pet of some description. However dogs aren’t always man's best friend, and also cats don’t always want to be stroked. Even the tamest pussy has sharp claws and every pooch has the teeth of a carnivore. Injuries can always happen.

The right handling is important

Maybe you only wanted to play, but if you get an animal too excited or fail to read the signals it is giving you, you may end up with a scratch or bite. To reduce this risk, children in particular should learn how to handle their dog or cat.

So teach your child to respect his or her pet. Animals should never be annoyed. Rover and Kitty usually don't like having their tails pulled or funny ribbons tied into their fur. And your child should always handle his or her animal carefully and avoid playing too roughly. This substantially reduces the risk of injuries.

Even small scratches should be professionally cared for

Scratches and cuts caused by animals must be treated especially carefully, because there are almost always bacteria on claws and teeth. Clean the wound thoroughly to prevent infection and then dress it with a plaster or bandage. Large injuries such as bite wounds should be looked after by a doctor and may need to be stitched.

As soon as the wound has healed the follow-up care with Contractubex® can begin. Use regularly to ensure that a small scratch does not result in an ugly scar.
